A Partnership with the Israeli-American Council

Our world is always seeing new growth and rapid changes. With the amount of information people often receive in one day, it can be easy to forget that the world of the past impacts how the world is today. But with nearly 63 percent of adults under the age of 40 unable to accurately recall the scale of the Holocaust, it is more important than ever to remember those affected by its horrors and bring better awareness to the lasting impacts of genocide. It is not something we can allow ourselves to forget. While it has been 75 years since the last camp was liberated, many people around the globe, and in our own community, can still feel its effects.

Teaming Up for the New Year

Our world is always seeing new growth and rapid changes. With the amount of information people often receive in one day, it can be easy to forget that the world of the past impacts how the world is today. But with nearly 63 percent of adults under the age of 40 unable to accurately recall the scale of the Holocaust, it is more important than ever to remember those affected by its horrors and bring better awareness to the lasting impacts of genocide.

It is not something we can allow ourselves to forget. While it has been 75 years since the last camp was liberated, many people around the globe, and in our own community, can still feel its effects. These are our neighbors, friends and family.

This story does not end with food, however. We also have the duty to preserve the collective memory of the terrible events that occurred and never something like them happen again. With antisemitism in the United States rising to a record high in 2019 and a concerning new report demonstrating an alarming loss of awareness surrounding the Holocaust in younger people, the mission to remember those people who experienced the genocide has become even more important than before.

We hope that our actions will help keep the memory alive. These meals signify remembrance, and bring more than just warm food. They are part of our effort to further awareness of people and events that we as a collective must never forget, and never allow to happen again. The incredible people we visited are living reminders of the importance of learning from history, and the lasting impacts it has on those who lived through it and the world as a whole.

Ensuring remembrance is no easy task but the Israeli-American Council, or IAC, runs efforts to raise awareness, inspire activism, and much more. The IAC is the largest organization for Israeli-American heritage and activism in the United States with a mission to build a strong community around Israeli and Jewish identities. They organize a range of programs working in social outreach, education, advocacy, career networking, and cultural heritage. They also have a network of medical centers, numerous organizations, task forces, and volunteer opportunities which directly support local communities.

Our partnership has helped brighten the day of people right here in Brooklyn and make a positive impact on our local area. If you would like to help the Israeli-American Council in their important missions, please consider donating or volunteering at https://www.iaccare.org. You can make a lasting impact in your area and help your community.

Thank you so much to all who helped this happen. This was a wonderful opportunity for us to give back in our area and we were happy to help such a good cause. We hope to inspire others to find joy in volunteering for their community!
